EtherPad.com gone – long live TitanPad.com!

By today (14th of April 2010) new pad creation will be disabled at EtherPad.com. We at TitanPad are here to fill this gap - to quote our TOS / Privacy Info:
TitanPad was launched to provide an EtherPad setup which is unrelated to any commercial and political entities. Its goal is to offer a stable service through proper operating.
[...]
TitanPad is based on the open-source release of EtherPad, after they were acquired by Google. If you're used to EtherPad already - you'll feel like at home with TitanPad, it works exactly the same.

Now TitanPad is officially up and running and you’re free to use it for online collaboration. Feel free to drop your feedback, questions and suggestions to our team via mail to support (at) titanpad.com.

  1. Tried sending this to support@titanpad.com, but it was rejected. Hence, the following:

"If I may, I'd like to suggest you use the more gender-neutral "Everyone gets their own color". The struggle against sexism is ongoing and this is a minor, yet important issue IMO. Besides, "everyone" is really plural, eh?"

  4. Am keen to use this in my classroom but need to know the limitations on the number of users that can be on at any one time.

    Thanks

  5. @Jim Buckingham

There's no hard limit for simultaneous users, but practical limits.

For one there are only 8 different colors people can choose. On top, there were performance problems reported with Internet Explorer when having a large number of collaborators.

  6. Hello, I used TitanPad for the first time today at work.

I like that you don't have to register - just quick, clean, easy. I have a few Q which could be the start of a FAQ page!

I'd appreciate any feedback, and hope to use it with my voluntary work also. Thanks for offering this freely.

    - how many words fit on a pad?
    - how long will it stay there?
    - how do you delete once not needed?
    - does the chat work real time or will messages be left for the next person?

  7. - There's no theoretical limit we're aware of, only practical ones.
    - As long as we offer this services
    - Deletion of Pads isn't implemented (yet)
    - The chat history is stored along with the content of the pad

  8. I lost so much work because I didn't have a computer and now I can't find any of the things I was working on. I had to save them to an online pad because I was only able to use public computers, and now I can't find them! All my hard work has disappeared, and I'm pretty disappointed... any way to recover this?
